DESCRIPTION:What is Latino Leadership OKC?\n\nLLOKC is a leadership program of the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.\n\nParticipants are Latinos from a broad range of organizations representing the private\, nonprofit\, and Government sectors. Over the course of the LLOKC program\, class members learn and practice the tools for being effective community leaders and volunteers.\n\n\n\nProgram Goals\n\n-Increase participant's capacity for\, commitment to and involvement in community activities in central Oklahoma.\n\n-Increase participant's overall capacity for leadership roles by teaching community leadership skills.\n\n-Increase participant's network of peers and established community figures.\n\n-Provide volunteer support to local community projects.\n\n \n\nProgram Activities\n\nClass: Participants will be invited to a welcoming Reception and meet once a month for 6 sessions\n\nand attend the graduation. Classes will begin from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.  Class sessions will include\, an interactive mix of activities designed to teach community leadership skills through exposure to local examples\, presentation of techniques and processes\, and practice in the skill.\n\n\n\nOptional Activities\n\nEach LLOKC program will include optional activities such as social events\, additional community experiences and selected Oklahoma City Events. A small charge to cover the cost of the event may be included.\n\n\n\nClass information:\n\n-Begins in February 13th        \n\n-Duration is 6 months\n\n-8:00 AM - 4:00 PM\n\n-2nd  Tuesday of the Month\n\n-15 applicants will be accepted for Class V\n\n-Price $550.00 per person\n\n-Application fee $45\n\nSelection Criteria\n\n-Applicants must be over 21 years old\n\n-Applicants must live\, work or have demonstrated substantial interest in Oklahoma City\n\n-Must be of Latino descent or bilingual English/Spanish\n\n\n\nApplications will be judged on the basis of\n\n-Commitment and motivation to serve the central Oklahoma area\n\n-Potential to rise to a substantial civic leadership role\n\n-Representation of particular segment of society\, including occupation\, gender\, race or ethnic (Type of Latino) background\, geographic demographics\, and any other characteristic as appropriate\n\n \n\nSelection Timetable\n\n-Mailed applications must be postmarked by Thursday\, January 4th or hand delivered by Friday\, January 5th by 5:00 PM.\n\n-Applicants will be notified of admission status no later than Monday\, January 15th.\n\nThe remaining 6 class sessions will be held at different locations throughout Oklahoma City from 8:00 AM to 4:00  PM\, with the last class taking place from 7:00 AM to - 5:00 PM. at the Expo\n\n \n\nAgendas with exact locations and maps will be posted electronically about 10 days before\n\neach event.\n\nNo more than two absences are permitted for the six regular class sessions\, missing more than half of a session counts as an absence.\n\n \n\nOptional activities\n\nAdditional activities may be added in the schedule.\n\n\n\nClick here to download the application.
